Café Knösel
Heidelberg's oldest cafe (1863) and inventor of the famous 'Student's Kiss' - a chocolate praline that remains Knösel family property.
Café Knösel on Haspelgasse has been family-owned since 1863. Here the first Knösel invented the 'Heidelberg Student's Kiss' - a nougat-chocolate praline exchanged as a proper gesture between students and the daughters of respectable households. House-made pralines are still produced to this day, alongside Viennese coffee culture and homemade cakes.
