The striking late-Gothic parish church on the Marktplatz - Heidelberg's religious and architectural center.
With its red sandstone form, the Church of the Holy Spirit dominates the Marktplatz. Built in the 15th century as the burial place of the electors, it served for centuries as the university church and housed the famous Bibliotheca Palatina. The tower is open to visitors after 200 steps.
