Weinstube Schnitzelbank
Wine tavern at Bauamtsgasse 7 in a former cooperage from 1882: you sit at historic workbenches and wine comes by the quarter litre.
The Weinstube Schnitzelbank goes back to the Herrmann cooperage and wine merchant, founded in 1882. It takes its name from the workbench on which barrel staves were shaped, and guests still eat at the cooperage's historic benches. The Schuster family has run the tavern since the building was renovated in 1992. The menu lists Palatinate Saumagen, house-made liver dumplings, the crispy schnitzel, salads and house-made cheese spätzle. The wines come from regional growers and are served by the quarter litre; the house recommends the Baden Riesling on tap. The guest books go back to 1936.
