Heidelberg Castle

Heidelberg's most famous landmark - the part-restored, part-romantically-ruined castle complex standing 80 meters above the Old Town.

Heidelberg Castle is one of Germany's best-known ruins and a symbol of Romanticism. Built and destroyed many times over the centuries, it is home today to the largest wine barrel in the world, the German Pharmacy Museum and one of the most beautiful castle gardens in Europe. Reach it by funicular or on foot via the Burgweg.
