Emmertsgrund was built between 1968 and 1976 as a planned large housing estate for 8,000 residents. Sitting at 400 meters elevation, the quarter is set apart from the rest of Heidelberg by its location. Today around 6,000 people from many nations live here - a diverse district with renewal initiatives and its own education center.
