Gasthaus Backmulde

Family-run inn with hotel at Schiffgasse 11: regional classics reinterpreted, and a wine room pouring beer from the small in-house brewery.

The Gasthaus Backmulde on Schiffgasse is a family-run house with a restaurant and 27 hotel rooms on a side street of the Old Town. The kitchen reinterprets regional classics with international touches and focuses on seasonal, regional produce, such as lamb's lettuce from Handschuhsheim, bread from local traditional bakers and wines from the region. Guests eat in the dining room or the courtyard. At present there is a short menu as a two- or three-course set or as a main course. In the wine room the beer comes from the house's own small brewery, served with cheese, ham and small plates. Opening days vary; current notices are on the website.
